Founder & Managing Partner, TAK Racing

 

Robert Katayama is the Founder and Managing Partner of TAK Racing. His passion for horse racing began at a young age, attending races with his grandfather at the Big Fresno Fair. It was his grandfather who first introduced him to the sport, and with each visit to the track, Robert’s interest and love for racing continued to grow.

 

In 2021, Robert met one of Northern California’s top racehorse owners, who later introduced him to trainer Jonathan Wong. The three reconnected later that year at the Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar, marking a pivotal moment in Robert’s journey toward racehorse ownership.

 

In 2022, Robert officially launched TAK Racing alongside family and friends. The stable was named in honor of his grandfather, who was known as “TAK” — a tribute to the man who not only introduced Robert to horse racing but also inspired his entire family’s love for the sport.

 

Under Robert’s leadership, TAK Racing has grown from a single-horse operation into a multi-horse syndicate competing in multiple states across the country. His vision focuses on smart claiming, strategic placement, and providing partners with an affordable path into racehorse ownership while maintaining a first-class experience.
